5 Elements Prayer Flag

Traditionally, prayer flags come in sets of five: one in each of five colours. The five colours are arranged from left to right in a specific order. The five colors represent the five elements and the Five Pure Lights. Different elements are associated with different colours for specific traditions, purposes and sadhana. Blue symbolises the sky and space, white symbolises the air and wind, red symbolises fire, green symbolises water, and yellow symbolises earth. According to Traditional Tibetan medicine, health and harmony are produced through the balance of the five elements.

Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion to all.

Prayer flags are usually placed outside, (when placed inside they tend to increase the spiritual vibration of the area) with time, the wind and the sun will erase the message as it reminds us of the impermanence of life. Life moves on, so do the flags! Please treat with respect.

Prayer Flags originated in Tibet thousands of years ago, they carried hand-printed messages and prayers written in sanskrit. They were hung outside where the wind could easily carry the message written on the flag. With the time, the wind and the sun will erase the message as it reminds us of the impermanence of life.
