COLLECTING METEORITES - Starting in your own back yard - Hugh Carman & Tom Kapitany
- Do meteroties influence our lives?
- Do you know how many meteorites fall each year?

COLLECTING METEORITES - Starting in Your Own Back Yard is full of information and often surprising facts about our solar system. The author explains what meteorites are, how to find them, where to find them and what to do with them. With over sixty full colour illustrations and twenty line drawings including maps.
COLLECTING METERORITES - Starting In Your Own Back Yard is ideal for all those who wish to actively pursue these 'rocks from outer space' and those armchair enthusiasts who are keen to find out what goes on 'up there'.
Hugh Carman's background is primarily scientific. He has a bachelor of Applied Science degree, obtained at the RMIT of Melbourne, Victoria.
He spent many years in the industry as an analytical chemist and his later years as a lecturer in sciences and mathematics at secondary and tertiary colleges. He retired from the position of Associate Director of the Moorabbin College of TAFE in 1988 and has since spent much of his time travelling throughout Australia and overseas using his talents for collecting and studying geological mineral specimens.
His keen interest in the overall universe, astronomical events and the observation of meteorite craters led to his deeper interest of meteorites, including their testing and classification.
He hopes that others may gain from his experiences.
