Spinosaurus Tooth - Fossil Replica
Spinosaurus (lizard with spines) is one of the biggest and most mysterious meat-eating dinosaurs ever known. Quite long, it could reach a length of 12 meters, it was similar to a Tyrannosaurus Rex, though with a lighter structure. A most unusual feature was a 5 foot tall "sail" of skin sustained by bony "spines" along its back. This big Theropod lived during the Cretaceous 100 million years ago; it possessed strong jaws similar to those of crocodiles.
Its teeth, about 6 inches long, were thin and straight, quite different from those of the other meat-eating dinosaurs which were normally curved. Fossil remains have been found in Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco.
